All Taken

My first cappuccino

This morning at Nesbitt’s

On Shoppers Row,

In the sun

At a sidewalk table

The street just waking,

Those unaware

That the shop is open

Doing double takes

As they drive by,

No one puts tables

On the street it seems,

Although it’s a natural

Progression for this young

Ocean city struggling

To find its way

In post mill closure

Times, straggling

Students double stepping

To the private college

Next door, smiling

As if planning

To be early next time,

Get a table before

They fill to the edges,

In these moments

Life is so damn good

Sensational sun, great

Cappuccino, we should

Meet here one day,

Early with the ravens

And gulls

Before the tables

Are all taken.
