Crumbling
Sometimes people wonder
Out loud about the
Crumbling of society,
The morality,
The
waywardness
Of
some of the young,
The Pitt Meadows violation,
The dehumanizing
Of a young woman,
How could that happen?
Date rape drugged
And raped,
All teenagers,
Images posted on line,
What leads to this culture
Devoid of character, integrity,
Respect, honest honour,
Love?
Are we all to blame?
Could the powerful countries
That seduce and economically
Rape the weaker ones
Have anything to do with it?
Does a society that accepts
That politicians are liars
Who smile, cheat, manipulate,
When exposed
Do more of the same,
Play a part?
Does a world’s political
Divisions of religions showing
Little tolerance for each other,
Burning each other’s holy books,
Somehow skew things?
What about a planet
Where at the end of the day
Money trumps all,
Human dignity,
Values, pride,
Even life itself,
Could this play a role?
How adults treat each other,
Especially those they don’t quite
Mesh with,
Does this contribute
To the crumbling?
Just wondering out loud
In the echo that bounces
Through the ages.
