Lost Time
They ran naked
Into the late autumn sun
As if trying to make up
For a lost summer,
Lifetimes nearly done,
Their kisses, their caresses
Devoured like a last meal,
The first after months
Adrift at sea,
They walked through
The Show ‘n’ Shine
Holding each other close,
Reliving lost time
Old loves and affairs
And always that look
When they held each
Other’s eyes,
The look that echoed
Why didn’t we meet
When we were young,
Standing in front of
A 62 Studebaker Avanti
The realization seemed
To hit them for
The first time,
Time gone is time gone,
You can never recover
Lost time.
