Mr. Harper, I Want An Election

Mr. Harper and your fellow Neocons,

I do want an election,

Most thinking Canadians I know

Want an election,

For you to continue saying we don’t

Is a deceitful undermining

Of democracy, as cracked

And illusionary as it may be,

For you to say it is too expensive

Is deceitful and hypocritical,

How much did you spend

On Toronto’s G20 affair,

Which in context, resulted in one

Of the most draconian crackdowns

And largest mass arrests in Canadian history,

Masked, unidentifiable military types

Opening fire with tear gas and rubber

Bullets on unarmed young people,

Sitting, holding hands, singing

Oh Canada,

How many young Canadians

Have been killed in Afghanistan and

Other parts of the world trying to help

People gain some semblance of democracy,

For you to say an election is an unnecessary danger

To Canada and its economy

Is deceitful and an affront to the memory

Of all those who have died

For democracy, for the right to elections,

For the right to vote,

For you to say that this election is due to

Anything but the majority of elected

Members Of Parliament finding you and your

Party in “Contempt Of Parliament”

Is a deceitful disregard for the public,

Democratic, parliamentary record.
