Poets, Philosophers, And Songs We’ve Heard I came across some homeless drunks Living on the rocks At the edge of the ocean, I asked them if they could say How they came to be this way… Poets, philosophers, and songs we’ve heard One elderly man replied, Once you come to realize There are no answers Why bother with the questions. Some guy wrote About truth and beauty, Another sang about how everything Is beautiful and those Beatle dudes About all you need is love, Well the truth is The more I drink The more beauty I see The more love I get, Especially from those Everyone else rejected. See this dog, Never had a collar Never been tied, Once you come to know There is the same as here Why go anywhere. You see, this box of Cracker Jack Ain’t got no plastic prize. So, Mr. asking questions, May I ask if you can you say Why you came to be this way? Stephen Nesbitt©
