Rice Pudding Day

A rice pudding day

Underway, you know,

More rice than raisins,

The Iron Kettle forced

To close, unpaid taxes

The notices pasted on

The windows say, sad

Really, 19 years of

Dreams, drudgery and

Jobs gone just like that,

Everyone still riding the

Bubble paddling with

Plastic, refusing to take

The clues, the hints, the

Signs seriously, our so

Called experts increasing

Deficits, borrowing to

Get out of debt, are

We mad to believe

This crazy conception,

On the raisin side, Chris,

The special needs man

Showed me his first poem,

It’s special to see a soul

Start dancing even though

The boards on the floor

And the wiring to the

Fixtures don’t seem to

Have been installed

Properly.
