Thoughts
For Terri
(I Love You)
My life has been blessed,
I was raised by Goddesses,
Have been surrounded and have
Associated with Goddesses, some
Realized, all with an inkling of who
They really are, and when you came to
Us, it was humbling to know that from
Conception to woman I could watch a
Goddess grow, I knew you were a Goddess
Right from the start, you never cried much, you
Always smiled and laughed, once when you were
Afraid of the dark we took a flashlight into the night
And crawled through the grass looking at and listening to
Crickets, caught some fireflies in a jar for your room, and you
Decided it was easier to deal with the dark than keep fireflies
From flying, you would tell us the phone was ringing seconds
Before it rang, you could even tell us the news that was coming,
School tried to unschool you, but you hung in there, you knew who
You were, you could swing a bat, sink a basket, block at the net,
control
Midfield like most guys could only wish they could, yet still you are
Fragile, beautiful, as at home in a long gown, fancy dress as you
Are in sneakers and jeans, you cook like your mother, your
Grandmothers, Goddesses who mentored you well,
You dance light as a feather, like your Grandfathers
And the fireflies you once set free, you run your
Business you started from scratch, you
Married a God and know how to
Remind him of who he really is,
You have Goddesses of your
Own and yet, you still
Take the time
To call.
