Twelve Years

It started on their

Wedding Day,

He dissed her

Maid Of Honour,

Made her look

Stupid,

Their friendship

Stopped shortly after,

Then slowly,

Methodically he

Alienated each of

Her friends,

Of course he threw

Out all of her furniture

And odds and ends,

Broke some of her things,

Her trophies and awards

Were not allowed to be

Displayed,

Everything was his,

The kids were not theirs

They were his,

He belittled her

Every chance he got,

Subtly at first

 Then wide open,

Tried to make her

Feel worthless,

Stupid and nobody,

Endeavoured to distance

Her from her family,

He did crazy things

And pulled reverses,

Told anyone who would

Listen that it was her

Not him,

It took her twelve

Years to realize

What he was doing,

Twelve years.
