Twenty-Nine Years Today
A crazy agitating day,
Conversations, blogs and emails
Buzzing a whole lot of nothing
About everything, most at one
Point or another touching on
The twenty-nine years to the day
John Lennon went on his way,
All those lovely songs and lyrics,
Everybody quoting, sending,
Are we doing something or
Simply feeling warm and fuzzy,
All We Need Is Love and we’re
Pissed at the illegal aliens and
Anyone else not fitting into
Our little round holes of how
Things should be, War Is Over
Give Peace A Chance, it’s not
The Far East, Vietnam and our
Gifts of agent orange, it’s the
Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan,
Spent uranium shells and bits
And pieces, waving fists at Iran,
Imagine, Palestine is our Warsaw
Ghetto, we’ve depleted and
Polluted our oceans and anything
Else we can get our greedy fingers
On, we keep electing leaders who
Refuse to see the obvious, we
Bomb and massacre in the name
Of God, Revolution, yes we need
A revolution, one that starts with each
And everyone inside and then and
Only then can we truthfully
Email, send and sing,
Starting Over.
