Undercurrents
You knew by their faces,
Especially when together,
That within minutes they
Could create tsunamis
And a disaster area in a
Water bed, or anywhere
For that matter,
Today in a reflective
Mood she spoke about
The
little things that
Others don’t see, the
Undercurrents that on
The water can kill you,
But in love keep the
River flowing,
Those unexpected
Breakfasts in bed,
Dinner on the lawn
Under the moon,
The drive in to town,
The mock finger fights
Over the radio buttons,
Always waiting for a
Commercial before
Changing her station
To check on the scores,
How she found it sexy
That he did his own
Ironing, her friends
Changed the subject
To complaining and I
Found it interesting
That most of them
Were on their second,
Third or more go round,
She was still on her first,
Still beaming, still madly
In love, I smiled as
I pulled another espresso,
Undercurrents, the world
Needs more undercurrents.
