Wedged in a world
Of lovers and haters
Winners and losers
Players and sideliners
Persisters and quitters
There’s you and I,
Where in the hell
We fit in
Is anybody’s guess,
What did you call it –
The great ten year dilemma –
But is it really anything
Like that at all,
I seem to recall
No urgency
To trim to fit
The rednecks and beer
Or any other slot
For that matter,
Maybe it’s simply a fact
That some free fools
Are destined to record
Their humble observations,
Grab your colors and brushes
My pen’s in my pocket
Let’s go get it on.
