When She Did
When she did come out to play
She was always gorgeous,
Lovely and brilliant,
So entertaining,
And yet,
She always seemed to leave
The little retreat door ajar,
Never straying very far
From the security of
Its numbness,
One wondered what
Her touch would be like,
If she would, if she could,
Break free from past restrictions,
Or was she stuck like a Cohen song
Held tight by lost love convictions.
